Singing for Peace & Social Justice
The Syracuse Community Choir is a community of people who gather to sing songs of peace and social justice. We work to educate each other and the greater community about social and political issues – mainly focusing on issues of peace, indigenous rights, civil rights, environmental rights, religious acceptance, and inclusion of all people.
Celebrating 40 Years
2025 the Syracuse Community Choir will celebrate 40 years. We will have special programming starting in our next season in the fall. More information coming soon.
Mission of the Syracuse Community Choir
A Place for Every Voice
At our core, we are dedicated to creating a space where every voice can rise in harmony, singing songs that not only sound beautiful but also carry the powerful messages of peace, freedom, and justice.
Our goal is to bring this message into the wider community, where they can ignite inspiration and fuel the desire for a better world. Together, we are building a safe and inclusive community where everyone is welcome to express themselves, share in the joy of music, and support one another.
We believe in the simple yet profound joys of making music together — sounding good, having fun, and above all, loving each other and the world we all share.
The Syracuse Community Choir aims to provide an opportunity for all people to sing music that:
- Promotes peace, freedom, and justice
- Addresses issues of oppression such as ableism, racism, sexism, and LGBTQ+ discrimination
- Provides inspiration for changing the world
- Perform and promote this music in the greater community
- Build a safe and inclusive community
- Sound good, have fun, and love each other and the world
