This Friday, December 6, the Folkus Project presents a very special pre-holiday concert with Joanne Shenandoah, a Grammy-winning artist from right here in Central New York. Shenandoah is one of the world’s top Native American songwriters and singers, with material that easily translates the customs and spirituality of her own culture to broader audiences. Says the Associated Press: “Shenandoah has become the most critically acclaimed Native American singer of her time.”
An evening with Joanne Shenandoah is one of deep connection and warmth — a realm where the traditions may be different, but the heart and message of the music still perfectly fit the inherent spirituality of the season.
Showtime is 8 p.m.; doors open at 7:15 p.m. At May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society, 3800 East Genesee St., Syracuse. As always advance tickets are available, via PayPal, by visiting the Folkus website at http://www.folkus.org.
For more about Joanne Shenandoah, visit her website at http://www.joanneshenandoah.com. Or watch her perform “Prophecy Song” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-A2_a-mGtlI.
We hope to see you all this Friday! Help Folkus kick off the holiday season with this very special concert.
PAYPAL GLITCH: We were again hit with a temporary PayPal glitch. You may have attempted to purchase Joanne Shenandoah tickets via PayPal and found the transaction interrupted. That is now fixed. Please return to http://www.folkus.org/ and try again.
